What a pleasure it is to stray into Maurice Ravel?s piano garden as we celebrate his 150th birthday! We enter with the Concerto in G, which pays triple allegiance to the God Mozart, Saint-Saëns and jazz, and leave with the Concerto for the Left Hand, a darkly colored poem for piano in which the soloist is a voice of the orchestra but does not confront it.
