Over 800 years ago, in the 12th century, Cistercian monks planted vines at Valmagne, as they did at all their abbeys (most of the great Burgundy vineyards are of Cistercian origin). Since then, vines have always been cultivated here. The wines were exported to Mexico in the 19th century, sold at Rue Mouffetard in Paris between the wars, and today are exported throughout the world and sold by wine merchants all over France.
