The “Mediterranean Cycle Route”

Did you know? An 800-kilometre cycle route linking Spain to Italy winds its way between the sea and the sun-drenched garrigue. The Mediterranean Cycle Route (EV8) will take you from Perthus to Menton, where many culinary and visual surprises await you!

Montpellier is a stopover, as are other historic places that have forged the past of this Mediterranean rim. In eco-tourism mode, come and discover its medieval streets and its fragrant markets with the help of your bike! So get on your bike!

The Sète - Palavas-les-Flots - Grau-du-Roi stage

L'espace d'une balade Entre étangs et vignes

This stage will allow you to discover the local heritage! A plate of shellfish, a bottle of Muscat de Frontignan, a swimming costume, a towel, the pebbled beach of Les Aresquiers… Let yourself be caught up in this “farniente” spirit!

And don’t forget to visit the Saint-Pierre de Maguelone cathedral, on the way to the Palavas-les-Flots lighthouse! The cycle path to Montpellier starts from this coastal village, with the town of Lattes on the way. Let’s get going!

Direction the Grau-du-Roi

The second part of this stage is now open to you. Head for the great white pyramids that you can see in the distance. No, this is not Egypt, but La Grande-Motte and its 20th century heritage architecture!

Let yourself be lulled by its peacefulness before continuing your journey. The Grau du Roi has many surprises in store for you. Its Seaquarium and fishing port are not to be missed!

The Méjean green route back to Montpellier

From Palavas-les-Flots, to leave in the direction of Montpellier, you will have to follow the Méjean green route! Along the edge of a pond, between the trees, this short route is very pleasant to discover the local fauna and flora. Don’t forget to stop in Lattes.

The Tourist Information Office welcomes you all year round to share its good tips! Come and stroll along the banks of the Ariane port, discover the history of the town at the Lattara-Musée Henri Prades archaeological site before heading back to Montpellier!
