Hérault Bike paths

Greenways and loops have been designed for cyclists to explore the Hérault’s countless landscapes. Soak up the hinterland in all its glory on the local bike paths. Here are our top bike paths to explore the vineyards and mountains!

1. The Passa Païs

La plus fameuse des

The Passa Païs is the most famous greenway in the Languedoc. It covers 45km in Hérault and introduces you to the South of France on a former railway line.

Since it’s a greenway, it’s completely secure and designed for cyclists so you can enjoy the great outdoors with peace of mind.

2. La Vaunage Greenway

The La Vaunage greenway lies east of Montpellier and starts in Sommières. It’s relatively short (22km) making it ideal for a family outing!

It has fabulous views of endless rows of vineyards and, rumour has it, there’s a farm along it. Can you spot it?

3. On the edge of the petite Camargue

Do you want to explore Hérault’s iconic vineyards, olive groves, bull farms and stables as you ride your bicycle?

Well you can, just set off from Castries on the bike path to experience a slice of the Petite Camargue.

Bonus: stop along the way to sample Muscat de Lunel, a natural sweet wine that will brighten up your outing. Please drink responsibly.

4. Pic Saint-Loup

If you’ve had the chance to visit the Promenade du Peyrou in Montpellier then the mountain in the hinterland is bound to have caught your eye.

A fairly famous AOP wine (protected designation of origin) thrives around it and its vines grow here all year round. Meet Pic Saint Loup! It’s surrounded by traditional little villages that you can explore on a 40km bike loop from Viols-le-Fort. On yer bike!
