You absolutely have to go for a walk in the Écusson, the historic center of Montpellier, with its medieval streets and its emblematic Place de la Comédie.
Then head to Place de la Canourgue overlooking St Peter’s Cathedral and its monumental porch, the favorite square of Montpellier residents.
Continue your walk on rue Foch, for its view on the Triumphal Arch, then on Place Royale du Peyrou and the Saint-Clément aqueduct, with a breathtaking view on the Arceaux district.
Before leaving, give yourself a little break at the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier, the oldest botanical garden in France, formerly reserved for botanists from the Faculty of Medicine.
A little advice: open your eyes and discover, by chance through a half-opened door, one of the wonderful courtyards of private mansions, jewels of Montpellier’s architecture.
