Cournonsec

Located 20 km west of Montpellier, the village of Cournonsec is surrounded by the ’garrigue’, the typical mediterranean aromatic scrubland. Here green and kermes oaks dominate. The vine and the olive trees are also present. Discover the local wine estates.

History

The village, built on a hill has beautiful views of the surrounding area and still preserves its medieval look.

The 15th century Castle was occupied by the Knights Templar.  Those monk-soldiers contributed to the upgrading of this part of France but above all offered protection for the pilgrims on the way to St James of Compostela.
