The Causses and Cévennes — ‘cultural landscapes of the Mediterranean, agro-pastoral’, have been listed as a World Heritage Sites since 28th June 2011, for the exceptional qualities of their landscapes, their transhumance routes, their farms and villages…
In this respect, UNESCO recognised the universal value of the Causses and Cevennes, which extend over 302,319 hectares and 4 departments (Aveyron, Gard, Hérault and Lozère) and 5 ‘gates’ — the towns of Alès, Ganges, Lodève, Mende and Millau.
